3K - $103K a year JOB PURPOSE The Earthwork Superintendent is responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and timeliness of the project.
This position will provide on-site coordination for all phases of the project, including material, equipment, subcontractors, and labor.
While there are specific responsibilities and expectations described below, it is essential that the Earthwork Superintendent be organized, possess good judgment skills, communicate effectively, and have technical knowledge.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist Estimating with production rates, manpower needs, and equipment needs at the time of bid Develop, refine, and update the project schedule Complete knowledge and understanding of contract drawings/specifications Understand project costs and manage company assets Create and manage project documentation Coordinate project operations including subcontractors and material vendors Knowledge of all regulations to ensure all aspects of the project are compliant Provide leadership and maintain effective working relationships with the on-site staff Enforce Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Core values Develop daily crew lists and manage field activities to ensure project completion date is met Lead weekly foreman meeting Plan and develop two-week forecast to proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions Maintain regulatory compliance for projects Ability to interface and maintain good relationship with owners QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience Civil Engineering or construction-related degree preferred with no less than 10 years of progressive responsibility supervising Earthwork-focused construction projects Experience 10
years of Mass Excavation/Heavy Civil Site Development experience Requirements/Competencies Ability to meet deadlines and driven to closure Ability to read construction drawings and understand specifications Ability to read and interpret Mass Excavation diagrams and formulate efficient earthmoving operations Leadership and management skills, including the ability to make decisions with integrity Experience dealing with subcontractors and vendors Excellent written & verbal skills, attention to detail Proactive, self-motivating, problem solver Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required Ability to plan and develop project schedule Ability to understand direct costs of project Basic computer literacy including the ability to use computer-related processes PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee, with or without reasonable accommodations, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
